Dar-ul-Uloom 0-2 Al-Furqan

Yes, we finally got our revenge on Dar-ul-Uloom. It was Friday 18th April 2008, at 6pm when we played the return leg and what a great match it was. Now that we had checked the opposition's birth certificates on entry, following the debacle last time, we were confident that we were at last facing a team of the same age as ourselves. The match started at a furious pace, but we were in control from the beginning. The first goal came like a rocket within 12 minutes and it was our inspirational captain, Kamil, that struck the amazing blow. On his favoured left foot, he volleyed and it went straight into the top right corner. Their goalie did not stand a chance. The next 20 minutes were frantic, but our amazing midfield of Joshim, Hassan and Kamil just did not let anything through. And just as the game started to fade, Kamil struck another blow and scored another goal from 10 yards, this time on his right foot. Is there nothing this boy cannot do? The second half started with Dar-ul-Uloom keeping a lot more possession and managing to keep the ball for longer periods. This led to tiredness in our players, but Ustad Ahmed made some tactical substitutions and put on Salahudeen for Adbiraheem and Hamed for Jibril. This worked a treat and the midfield was rejuvenated. However, another goal just did not come our way, in spite of hitting the post and crossbar on at least 5 occasions. Yuosef and Zeid should also have been there to poach a few goals, and there is a lesson to be learnt for the future. Full time could not have come early enough for the opposition, as they were tiring and just could not get through our impenetrable defence. Overall, a great match and a very famous win. Well done to all. All credit is to Allah, only the mistakes were ours. Abdiraheem Mohammed, Al-Furqan Boys |
